Text excerpted from a poem by Farid Matuk
“To burn in some America’s idea of presentness, dignified or bruised with looking, to have left a nation’s bed, shinning, basically, eagle shaped.” Another text from Farid Matuk weaves in the background alongside an underpainting where a universe of people stand upright and upside down, eyes look everywhere and helicopters decorated like Chinese pottery survey a scene of a vase inscribed with a double headed eagle, perhaps the eagle of the Hapsburgs, but most certainly the eagle of the empire.
